One Year Old

Well.  That was the fastest year ever. (So fast, in fact, that I am blogging almost a month behind and back-dating all of my blog posts because life is just that crazy.) Elliott is one year old.  Twelve whole months have passed since we brought home our sweet second baby boy, our third baby, the one who forever changed our family from one-on-one to zone defense. :) I really can't even believe it.

So what's Elliott up to at 12 months old?

~ He is now 22 lbs, 7 oz, and 30 inches long.  This puts him right around the 65%, and the smallest of the 3 kids at their birthdays.  Trey was about half pound and 1/4 inch taller, and Collette was 2 pounds heavier and 1/2 inch taller at 12 months.

~ He has two bottom teeth, and is cutting FOUR top teeth!

~ He is a speedy crawler, but doesn't seem interested in walking.  He has been on the later end of average with all of gross motor milestones (rolling, crawling, pulling up, etc.), so I will not be surprised if he is late-ish walker.  And frankly, that is ok with me.  :) He does love to pull up on everything he can, and destroy everything he can reach. Soon he will be giving Trey some competition for his Wreck-It-Ralph nickname!

~ He says Dada, Mama, Bye, More ("mo"), and dog.

~ He loves balls and loves to throw them.  We laugh because he will throw a ball, go get it, throw it again, and repeat over and over.  It's like he's playing "fetch" with himself. :) He also loves stacking toys and anything he can put things in and take them out of.  And he is very proud that he can play the saxophone all by himself.

~ He is still Mommy's Boy.  He loves his Daddy and brother and sister, but if Mommy is around, he wants to be with me.  He cries if I leave the room, or if he sees me and can't get to me. I know this is a short-lived stage, so I'm trying to enjoy it!

~ He had his first hair cut! Despite it, that fluffy baby hair still refuses to lie down! I comb it, wet it down, and it just pops right back up.  It's his signature look.  :)

~ He is a great eater.  His first love is cheese, but he also loves most fruits (especially bananas), and has been enjoying the fruits and veggies from our garden this summer.  Peas and raspberries he has especially enjoyed.

~ He sleeps through the night most nights now! Hallelujah! And he takes 2 naps a day, at around 10am and 2pm.

~ People often comment on his wild hair, but more and more people are commenting on his eyes.  They are very dark brown (darker than Collette's or Trey's), and that combination with the blond hair is more unusual.  And people continue to comment on his happy and smiley demeanor.

~ He is an affectionate little guy! He loves to give open-mouthed kisses, and loves to give good night hugs and kisses to his siblings, giggling all the while.

We are blessed beyond measure to have this sweet little guy in our family. Happy first birthday, Elliott!
