Immediately upon our arrival, the kids were asking to go to the beach, so we loaded up and headed to the lake. It was very windy and the waves were super strong, and Collette and Trey had a great time standing in the water and getting knocked down again and again. Elliott preferred to be with Daddy, or safe on the beach.
We also explored Presque Isle State Park, and did a little walking on trails, and saw this fun light house.
Our next day, we started with touring grape country, and learning how grape juice was made at the Welch's Grape Discovery Center. The kids loved sampling the grape juice, and I think Trey could have watched the videos about the grape harvesters all day!
When we finished there, we went to the zoo! The weather was perfect, and we had such a fun day!
In addition to tons of neat animal exhibits, they also had a huge fun play place for the kids, musical chimes to jump on, and a carousel!
The lions were one of our favorite exhibits, and this picture of the lion posing with Trey cracks me up. It looks like she is about to get herself a snack! :)
We went back to Presque Isle on Sunday before heading for home. This time, the beach was empty, and the water was perfectly calm and smooth. It was such a beautiful, peaceful way to end our weekend!
Elliott loved the sand, and played happily for the entire time.
It was so nice to get away for a weekend before the craziness of Collette starting Kindergarten, Trey starting preschool, and me starting teaching another semester!
