Mini-reunion in Watkins Glen, NY!

Yesterday Lloyd and I went to visit my great friend Dawn and her husband, Paul. Dawn and I have been friends since middle school and she still lives in the area where I grew up in NY. Since I have been a southerner for 5 years, and my parents have moved away, I almost never got to see her. Now that we live only a few hours apart, we decided to meet at Watkins Glen State Park, have lunch, hike, and catch up. It was really fun! Lunch was beautiful and we got to eat right on the harbor (Watkins Glen is part of the Finger Lakes) and then we went to hike. We have both been there multiple times and love hiking all the way to the top of the water falls, and the guys were game for the hike, too. However, the entire trail looks like this:

And that is only a SMALL portion of the trail. It is all steps, mostly muddy and slippery because of the water from the water falls. I started out very optimistic, but by about half way, I was totally out of steam. Repeated stair climbing and pregnancy is not a good combination for me! And Dawn had hurt her knee running so she wasn't feeling so great, either. We trudged on, but then I started to feel dizzy, and many of you know my great propensity for fainting, so I decided it was better to quit while we were ahead, instead of risking baby's health by having her mom fall down a huge flight of rock stairs or over a ledge! lol. We went back down and got ice cream instead, and looked in the cute little shops in town. :o) Aren't we healthy? Here are a few pictures from our hike.

This is LL and I at one of the waterfalls, and this will also serve as my 24 week pregnancy picture :o)

Dawn and I taking a break:

And beautiful Watkins Glen. Next time we'll make it to the top! Maybe I'll get LL one of those cool baby backpacks for the trip....
