28 Weeks... Good News and Not-So-Good-News...

I am now in my 28th week of pregnancy! Hard to believe! Last week Tuesday when my mom and her friend Linda got here, all of us headed to the hospital for my 28 week appointment and ultrasound. They were rechecking my placenta to make sure it was where it was supposed to be, which thankfully it WAS!! That is really good news because otherwise I would have had to go on bed rest and have a C-section, something I really don't want to do (particularly the bed rest... I would never make it!) So I was very excited about that, and we even got to see this little one's face! She kept hiding behind her hand, so we didn't get the greatest shot, and of course I still don't have a scanner, so I had to take a picture of the picture, but I still think it's cute and you can get the idea:

(and no, LL and I have not settled on a name yet!)

Then LL and I went in for our actual appointment, and we got the not-so-good-news... my gestational diabetes test came back high, so I had to go for another test on Friday. This time I had to fast for 12 hours, take a fasting blood sugar (it was really more like 14 hours by the time the nurse actually saw me at 8:00am), drink a nasty drink twice as strong as the last nasty sugary drink (in 5 minutes or less, and they do time you), then have blood drawn at 8:30, 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00. VILES of blood drawn, not just a prick. And I had to sit in the waiting room (which was really a hallway)and I wasn't allowed to walk around or anything. Not fun. So now we are just waiting for results. I am considering calling the Dr. today and asking if they have my results back yet, because one of the biggest problems with gestational diabetes is delivering large babies, and I really really really don't want to have a 12 lb baby if I can help it! I am already starting to feel like the GoodYear Blimp...people keep saying to me "well, you are pregnant!" but I swear to you in the last few weeks I have expanded like the universe! lol. Even if I am within a normal weight gain range at this point! I am not a huge fan of pictures of myself, but for all of you who have been asking, here I am with Byron (my camera-loving dog) at a little over 28 weeks:

And here is Dr. Reitz showing off his monogrammed "Sunbury Animal Hospital" Polo with me in a pic for my mom. We are standing in our newly painted dining room!!!! We are still finishing the trim, so more pics of that to follow when we actually finish the trim and have it looking cute. It is a HUGE improvement though!!

We also made our first major baby-related purchase last week... a crib! Mom and Linda and I had decided to go to Harrisburg and shop with my friend Nora, and our other friend had given her a coupon to give to me for 15% off any item at Babies R Us. They were running a special where if you got a crib you got a free mattress with it and when we got the coupon it was the last day of the sale, so I called LL and we decided it was worth it to buy it that night, since we could save $200 that way. The crib has not come yet, but here is a picture of it from Babies R Us. It is convertible to a toddler bed and a full sized bed, so hopefully we can have it for a long time!

We had a great time shopping and also bought some cute stuff for the house. Hopefully LL will get a change to hang up our kitchen decor soon and I can post pictures of that, too!

You are too cute. Glad to know all is going pretty good. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy...I pray you don't have to go through what Joel and I just went through with Samuel.
