17 Months Old!

My little Trey is 17 months old today.  He is at such a fun age and is learning and doing new things every day! So what's new with Trey at 17 months?

He is "So big!"

~ He is busy, busy, busy.  This boy loves to run and loves to climb.  I have found him, among other places, sitting on top of my dining room table, standing on top of his kid-sized table, scaling the dog crates, jumping on the couches, and scampering up onto Collette's bed this month.  When he is outside, the goes for the biggest thing the can find to climb.  This month he started going down our swing set slide all by himself.

~ He loves to be outside, and will get out that door the second it opens.   The slide, swing, and sand box are his favorite activities right now (our trampoline is broken), and  he even learned to say "sandbox" this month.  He will run toward it yelling, "Sandbox! Sandbox!" :)

~ He loves to play with trains, cars, trucks, tractors, combines... anything with wheels.  He is fascinated with watching the tractors and wagons go past our our house.  He has learned to say "truck!" and calls all things with wheels trucks right now. :) He will spend long periods of time (for an active toddler... like 10-15 minutes) making vehicles go on different types of surfaces to see how they sound, and making his own sound effects for them.  It is the cutest thing.

(Side note: Collette has corrected me more than once when I've said to Trey, "Are you playing with your tractor, buddy?" She is quick to inform me, "No, he has his combine, Mommy." So sorry.  My mistake.)

~ He has picked up quite a few new words this month.  He is now saying "thanks" and "thank you" at appropriate times, asking to "walk" when he is being held or in his stroller, and saying "Help!" or "Stuck!" when he can't get something.  He has also said "I want that," while pointing. He is still working on animal noises and body parts.  His overly-helpful big sister chimes in, despite my best efforts, to give him the answer to whatever question I'm asking, and then he just looks at me like, "Yeah.  What she said."

~ He loves to brush his teeth and says "teeth? teeth?" every time we are in the bathroom.  I had to buy him  his own stool recently because he kept trying to get on it while Collette was using it, and shoving matches ensued.

~ Speaking of teeth, he is up to 7 now! Four on top, 3 on the bottom.  I'm guessing number 8 will be in soon. His lack of teeth doesn't slow him down with food at all.  That boy can pack away the food! So far I haven't found much he won't eat, although like his sister he prefers fruits and veggies to meat.

~ He is still a great sleeper.  This morning I had to wake him up at 8:30.  He usually goes to bed around 7:30-8:00pm and sleeps all night. He takes a nap from roughly 1-3:30 every day.  (The bumpers are a pointless attempt to keep him from chewing and ingesting his crib.  The boy is obviously part beaver.  He has destroyed that crib.  Teeth marks everywhere!!!)

~ He is wearing primarily 18 month clothes and just moved into size 5 or 5.5 shoes.  He weighs around 27 pounds on our bathroom scale.

~He now loves to have his picture taken and will say "cheeeeese!" when he sees the camera or phone.  And of course he loves to look at pictures of himself. Here is a "selfie" that we took recently:

~Despite how busy he is, he still likes to sit and snuggle.  Those are some of my favorite moments in our day. :)
(His Monsters, Inc. shirt says "Causing an Uproar."  I think it's pretty accurate.)

Happy 17 months, sweet boy! I can't wait to see what this next month brings!
