19 Months Old

Trey turned 19 months this week.  This past month has actually gone so fast, I didn't even realize he was already another month older!

So what's new with Trey at 19 months?


~ He is doing much better with eating off a plate and with a spoon/fork.  For a while if I would give him a plate on his high chair tray he would just dump it off, or when I gave him a spoon he would hold it in one hand and eat with his other hand! Ha! But now he is doing much better eating "like a big kid," as Collette says.  Sometimes if I try to help him with a difficult food and try to feed him a spoonful, he will tell me "No" and turn his head away! He is starting to ask for more specific foods now, too.  "Berry," (strawberries or blueberries) and "bagel" are two of his favorite things to ask for now. 

(Of course, eating with a whisk if fun to try, too.)

~ He is still in love with trucks and tractors, and is excited every time he sees one.  He watches very closely to how mechanical things work, and will climb right up on a parked lawn mower or gator, attempt to turn the key, and put it in gear! (Obviously, we are standing right next to him and would not let this happen. :)  In case you are worried.)

~ He has discovered a love of water this month, since we have access to Mimi and Bumpa's pool and I got him a Puddle Jumper so he can be more independent. He likes to jump off the side and will say ".... two... JUMP!" I'm not sure what happens to "one" and "three"? :) Sometimes he will hold hands with Collette and the two of them will jump in together. He also likes to paddle around by himself in the pool, instead of hanging on to me like he used to. 

~ He LOVES to try on big shoes and clomp around in them.  My shoe baskets get emptied many times a day! :)

~ He has acquired quite a few new words this month. It is fun to see him picking up new words and phrases, and even starting to make short sentences once in a while.  The other day he was so proud of himself for climbing up on something, and he joyfully exclaimed, "I got up! I got up!" He is also learning more body parts and animal noises, as well as a few colors- brown, blue, yellow.

~ He is such a little mix of sweetness and mischievousness. He still loves to snuggle and wants to sit with me quite a bit.  Then he will have that glint in his eye and take off running to get into something he knows full well he shouldn't do! Boys. :) He has also mastered the pitching of fits this month.  He was pretty skilled in throwing fits before, but now he has taken his technique to a whole new level.  Sigh.

~ He is constantly climbing on the radiators to look out our windows.  Sometimes he will see tractors working in the fields around our house, or going down the road.  Other times he is watching for Daddy to leave or come home.  He loves to shout "bye bye!" to Daddy each morning when he leaves for work.

 

Actually, any time spent hanging out with Daddy rates pretty high on Trey's list. :)

 

 

~ He and Collette are best buds.  It is so fun for me to hear them laughing and playing together.  Every thing Collette does, Trey tries; from mimicking her at the dinner table (think: turning spoons and plates into drums, etc.), singing songs with her in the car (usually nonsensical), to playing with her in the yard (down the biggest slide, or jumping on the trampoline), Trey is trying and usually succeeding pretty well at keeping up with her.

(Although, to be fair, let the record show that there is now a good bit of fighting that goes on between them, too. Usually over a toy or something that they both want.)
