Adjusting to Life at Home

Our little family has been doing quite well adjusting to life at home. I can't believe Collette is already a week old! We have had several visitors to the house, including LL's grandma and great uncle Barney, our BIL and SIL Andy and Taryn and Collette's cousins Isaac and Tabby, and SIL Gwen and cousin Autumn. My best friend Nora and her husband Steve were able to come on Wednesday and visit, thanks to having Veteran's day off. It was so fun!

Here is Collette with her visitors:

Collette has also had two doctor's appointments since we left the hospital. We went back on Thursday for her 2 day check up, and found out that she was still not gaining weight (she had lost quite a bit after birth and they were hoping she would have started gaining it back by now), so they put us on a fatten-baby-up plan of feeding every 2 hours during the day and every 3 hours at night. It was a stressful 24 hours trying to get a sleepy and content baby to wake up and take extra food (exactly how do you force a baby to eat?!?) but we had a return appointment for the next day and they doctor wanted her to have gained at least an ounce. Friday we went back for the big weigh-in and... 3 and a half ounces!! Yay! They were very impressed with her weight gain, and hopefully we can back off the feedings just a little bit and still have her gaining nicely. We go to our regular pediatrician on Tuesday for another check up and weigh in.

Going to the Doctor!

My mom arrives on Tuesday, too. We are all very excited to see her! It will be especially nice for me, because even though LL was given 2 weeks of paternity leave, due to some absences from the other doctors, he has to work today, Mon., and Wed-Fri. next week. He does have off on Tuesday to pick up my mom and go to our doctor appointment, since I can't drive yet.

LL has been busy being the paparazzi.... he and that blackberry! We already have soooooooooo many pictures of her! Here are a few of them, just because. :o)
