A belated happy Thanksgiving to everyone! We had a great Thanksgiving here; it was so fun to have my mom here to celebrate and to have our first Thanksgiving with Collette! LL and I were in charge of the turkey and dressing; we (well, not "WE," LL actually) butchered one of our turkeys so we had fresh turkey, far superior to the frozen, store-bought kind, and we marinated it in a citrus brine overnight (thank you, food network, for the recipe). It was FABULOUS! We also made two types of dressing--oyster cornbread dressing and regular cornbread dressing (thank you, Paula Deen, for those recipes). LL's mom was going to make (oh the horror!) STOVETOP stuffing, and LL and I just couldn't bear that on thanksgiving after being spoiled by the south's fabulous cornbread dressing, so we decided to make the dressing, too. All of the food was sublime, and we had a really nice time being able to celebrate with the family. Collette enjoyed her first thanksgiving, too, although she didn't get to sample any of the great food. She was passed around from relative to relative and got lots of love! She was even sporting a "1st thanksgiving" outfit complete with a fuzzy turkey on the front. Too cute. Here is the little pumpkin on turkey day:

We also attempted to take our first official family photo, complete with the dogs. It was moderately successful, but I think we could use a little more practice!

We have so much to be thankful for, this year and every year. This has been a huge transition year for us--within the past year, LL and I have both graduated, sold our house, moved across the country, started new jobs, renovated on our new/old house, and of course welcomed sweet Collette into our lives! We have been so blessed!
