Yum

It's no secret that LL and I love food, and we also love making it! We have amassed quite a collection of cookbooks, and one of our favorites is the "Screen Doors and Sweet Tea" cookbook by Martha Hall Foose, executive chef at the Viking Cooking School. For our anniversary last year, we went to the Viking Cooking School for a fabulous culinary weekend with a guest chef and had a GREAT time. And we came home with this fabulous cookbook (signed, even!). Well, LL developed a great love of banana pudding during our Mississippi years, and he had been saying forever that he wanted to make her recipe. So this weekend we did! This was hardcore pudding making; we first had to make all of the cookies (or "tea cakes" as the recipe calls for, with dough that needed to be rolled and cut out) for the pudding, and the pudding, and of course we needed to follow Chef Martha's directions for presentation, and made each one individually in cute mason jars, instead of just putting in a pan. The results were TO DIE FOR! Yumm-o! LL is already talking about making another batch...

So what else is new? We went out for Chinese food this week, and Collette had a great time:

She is getting super-smiley. Every day it seems like she smiles more than she did the day before, and she has also started "talking" to us more--she vocalizes in response to what we say. She is definitely turning into a real little person with her own personality! Here's a shot of the grinner:

Tomorrow we go for her shots. I'm not sure exactly why, but somehow the Doctor's office couldn't schedule her for her 2 month shots until now-- she is almost 3 weeks into her 2nd month. LL has Thursday's off this month (he now has one day a week off to compensate for working weekends and on-call) so he will be coming with us. Hopefully she will have a quick recovery!
