This past week I had a couple of friends visit who hadn't been here in a while, and had never seen Trey's nursery, and it got me thinking-- I never posted pictures of his nursery for y'all, either. :) That would probably be because we barely finished the nursery before his 3-week early arrival, and then the day before he arrived LL started tearing apart our guest bedroom and moved a bunch of stuff from that room into the nursery for storage. So when Trey and my mom arrived, neither had an inhabitable room! Helpful.
Anyway, we redid the nursery. When we were preparing for Collette, we has the debate about a gender-neutral nursery vs. a girly nursery. We eventually decided to do a girly nursery, but I picked a more neutral paint color for two-thirds of it, and the trim, so we wouldn't have to completely repaint if/when we decided to change it eventually (I am so.over. painting trim. Particularly while pregnant!).
Just as a refresher, here is what Collette's nursery looked like:
We picked bedding with puppy dogs and sports balls for Trey's nursery. :) I found it on sale online, and also got the set of wall decals that went with it. I figured that since it had a sports-theme it would be easy to find other matching accessories. Next, we repainted the purple and lavender stripes.
Collette was very interested in the painting process, and a little sad she was banned from the room while we painted.
Then we found a new rug (on clearance!) and valences at Lowes (on sale), and some wall-art at Babies R Us (also on sale), and we were all set. New nursery!
(Trey is still sleeping in the bassinet in our room, since he's not sleeping through the night yet, so we haven't adjusted the crib back up to newborn-height. It's still on the lowest level where we had Collette).
And I even got to hang Trey's footprint plaque in his room!
We also got our guest bedroom, or what Collette calls "Mimi's room" redone. It was a bit more labor-intensive than the nursery, because the room is bigger we had to peel all of this lovely wall paper:
as well as move about 3000 books and bookshelves.
LL really wanted to use some paint that we had purchased a while ago that ended up being the wrong color for our dining room, so we used that color to do an accent wall, and picked a lighter color for the other 3 walls. The lighter color is somewhat deceiving. It's supposed to be a light gray-green (I really don't know how to describe the color, I know that sounds ugly but I promise it's not), but depending on the light the walls look light blue, light green, or light gray. Strange. But still, it's a vast improvement from what it was. Ultimately, our goal is to tear that room down to the studs and replace the horsehair plaster with drywall, move the closet, and build a hallway between that room and Collettes, but for now it's much better than it was!
Do you see the lump in the bed?
Someone was hiding in Mimi's bed!
(And yes, the deer head had to stay in the newly redone room. When it's not "Mimi's room", it doubles as our "hunting lodge" for our Mississippi friends!)
We got some nice new bookshelves from our BIL and SIL when the moved; so much nicer!
So there ya have it. Our re-done rooms. :) I think we are done with house rennovations for a while-- the guest room was our last room of our house to do. That brings our rennovation total to 10 rooms total! Kitchen, living room, dining room, and play room/study, 2 bathrooms (completely gutted and redone), and 4 bedrooms. Whew! Now we can never move. :)
