One (or two) More Anniversary Surprise(s)

5 years ago today LL and I were touring around New Zealand on our fabulous 3 week honeymoon. It was an amazing trip, and we were able to see almost all of the north and south islands in the time we were there. One of the many places we stopped was a neat little shop known through out New Zealand for glass blowing. We were able to watch the artist work, and brought home a beautiful hand-blown glass vase (we actually had it shipped, so it would arrive all in one piece and not have to go through customs with it!) Well, yesterday we got a package in the mail from New Zealand, and guess what it was? Another beautiful hand-blown glass vase from New Zealand! It is done with a different technique and actually has metal in it as well, but it will go perfectly with our other vase! I waited until LL came home for lunch to open it, because it was addressed to him, and then he took it with him to work, because he said he had one of our coworkers help him pick out the design, and he wanted to show it to her. When he came back home, he brought the vase... full of roses! I was so surprised, and he said "Well I can't get you an empty vase!" Flowers for it had honestly never even occurred to me. :o) So here is my beautiful vase, complete with flowers:



Ultimately, we would like to put both vases on the buffet in our dinning room... of course, we have no buffet in our dinning room, because it is still in storage at Grandma's house, because where the buffet would go is currently baby's dresser! And why, pray tell, is baby's dresser, still in the box, in the dinning room? Because the nursery is still unfinished, and the dresser is completely assembled and weighs at least 150lbs. The nursery continues to be a struggle... at first we thought we could rip out all of the walls, insulate it, and then re-drywall it, but then the handyman helping us (employed by the farm) said that wouldn't work, so we just Sheetrock mudded the entire room, sanded it down, and planned on covering it with primer after the electrician came. Well, the electrician came, the Sheetrock mud got done, and last night LL started priming the walls. And... SURPRISE! A piece of the wall just fell out on him! He repatched it, but of course this gave us serious pause about continuing with the nursery's current plan. So today the contractor came to look at the room, and he said that it would probably be okay for about 5 years if we just prime it again and then paint it, but ultimately it would be better to tear out the walls, blow in insulation, re-drywall, patch, prime, and then paint... a job that will likely NOT be accomplished before baby's arrival! Sooooooo... quite the conundrum. Redo it now, before it is done, and do it the best way, even if that means baby will most likely be roomless when she arrives? Or continue with the current plan and just plan to redo her room in 5 or so years? We aren't sure what is the best option, but we have to decide by tomorrow, because then LL would have the job of tearing out the walls before Thursday, which is when the contractor would be back to start the job. I will let you know what we decide! With just 5 weeks until baby is scheduled to make her arrival, this is a stressful decision for us!
