A Heart Attack and A Pony Ride

Sunday we went to the farm for dinner after church, like we nearly always do. It's always a fun time to see LL's parents, the siblings, and all of the little ones playing together. And there is always great food. This past Sunday we had cake to celebrate LL's brother Nick's birthday. And what is chocolate cake without coffee? So LL brewed a few pots of coffee (it takes a few with his whole family!) and was distributing them to everyone. Collette was sitting in her booster seat at the kitchen island when he put a cup of coffee down for someone else sitting at the island. But whoever was sitting there wasn't actually sitting there at the moment, and I was at the table getting cream for my coffee. And I turned around when I heard LL gasp loudly, just in time to see Collette knock an entire mug of steaming hot coffee all over herself! I guarantee you have never seen LL and I move so fast! In a flash we had her out of the seat, had her socks and shoes off, pants mostly off (she was wearing the kind with the snaps on the insides of the legs) and over to the sink putting cold water on her legs. She was far enough away from the table when she grabbed the coffee that she only got it on the lower half of herself... a lot of the coffee went on the floor (Really, she was far enough away from the island that no one can figure out how she actually REACHED the coffee...I guess that's why her Daddy calls her "gorilla arms!" LOL) Praise God, she calmed down in a few minutes and didn't have any blistering, and just a little redness. After 5-10 minutes, you would never know anything had happened!(It took LL and I a lot longer to calm down than it took her. Hello, heart attack!) We are so thankful that God protected our little girl!

Yesterday my SIL Niki invited girls from our MOPS group to come over for pony rides and see the farm, so Collette and I went over, too. Collette is now big enough to take a ride on Coco Puff!

Ready to ride! (Please notice she even had boots on for the occasion haha)

I'm pretty sure she liked it :o)

(I just love that open-mouth-excited face!)
She also had fun playing in the leaves and being with the other kiddos-- there were 10 kids 4 and under, and 7 of them were boys. Here she is with 9 1/2 month old Hugh.

Loving the leaves!
