Swimming Lessons for the Little Fish

Today Collette got to start swimming lessons! She was so beyond excited I don't even have a word to use! Ha! She is doing a small group lesson with Miss Jade, a Life Guard who has a pool at her house.  Cousins Isaac, Tabby, and Autumn took lesson with Miss Jade last year, and this year Collette is old enough to join them. They will be going for an hour, twice a week, all summer.

The class warming up by kicking:

It was only 65 today, and the pool is outdoor and not heated, so it was a chilly day to start.  The other three kiddos were hesitant to stay in the water, but not my little fish! I had a full time job getting her to say sitting on the steps in the water and not charge in to water over her head!

After warm-ups, Collette got to use a kick board and practice her kicking:

And putting her face in the water to blow bubbles:

Then she got to use a pool noodle so she could practice her doggie paddle:

And she got to put on her floaties and jump in the pool and practice swimming (by far her favorite part!)

Trey was a pretty interested observer throughout the lesson.

The only time Collette cried was when I had to get her out of the pool! Isaac, Tabby, and Autumn were more than ready to get out and put on warm dry clothes, but Collette, who still had her floaties on, decided to take another lap around the pool. :)

She's one happy little fish!
