Several months ago Collette requested a Minnie Mouse party, so when we decided on a joint party, we picked Minnie and Mickey.
I made this invitation for them, using free Disney fonts I was able to download (it's on a while background, but it's hard to tell on the white of the blog). I was able to print it as a regular 4x6 photo, which kept printing costs down, too.
Since Mickey and Minne are popular, I was able to get party decorations easily. Hooray! We set up two tables, and had a Mickey tablecloth for one, and Minnie tablecloth for the other.
I made some Mickey and Minnie oreos and and rice krispies for treats on the table:
And for a fun centerpiece I turned our candy topiary into a Mickey-shaped gum-drop topiary:
A certain three year old girl was pretty excited about all of the party decorations.
I also set up our buffet with pictures of the kids from each month, and the photobooks I have made the past year:
And of course, we had to have a Minnie and Mickey cake! I decided to make the larger cake more for Minnie (since Collette has been excited about a Minnie cake for-- literally -- months), and then a Mickey smash cake for Trey. I made the bottom layer of the large cake yellow, and wrote "Happy Birthday Collette and Trey" on that, with oreo Mickeys around it, then the middle layer was pink polka dot like Minnie's dress, and the top layer was Minnie's head (with sugar cookie ears).
(back of cake)
Trey's smash cake- I attempted to write his name in a Disney-ish way. :)
The kids also had Minnie and Mickey attire for the party. I actually found Collette a red ruffled Minnie shirt (on clearance!) that I knew she would love, so I got that for her, and then I made Trey a little Mickey Tie onesie. I did make Collette a Minnie hair bow to match her shirt. Here is the best picture I got of my two cuties before the party started.
Here's a close-up of the hair bow:
I had a great time pulling together Mickey and Minnie things for the party. :) It turned out pretty cute, and Collette was happy with it, which was the most important thing! Since this is getting long, I will show pictures from the actual party in my next post. :)
