23 Months

Well, after my last post about Collette, I can hardly believe I'm here again, documenting Trey's monthly progress for the last time before he is a big two year old!

How do they keep growing so quickly?

So what's new with my big 23-month old boy?

~ He loves to hop and jump.  Getting both feet off the ground simultaneously is a new-ish skill for him, and he loves it. He will jump around the house all day long, saying "Hop! Hop!"

~ He is so totally over having to sit in a highchair and wear a bib. He climbs up onto the tall stools at our kitchen island and wants to sit there, just like a big kid.  Collette decided the same thing at about that age.  :) I guess it's time to put my high chair away (sob!).

~ He is still a boy of few words. :)  He is learning new words and phrases all the time, but doesn't always feel the need to use them. He'd rather be doing something than having a conversation.

~He is a polite little guy.  He loves to say "bless you" when someone sneezes, almost always says "thank you" and "you're welcome," and is quick to say  "saw-ye! (sorry)." My mom was getting him ready for bed one evening and she told him to put his arms in his p.j.'s, and he said "Yes, Ma'am!" as he happily complied. She was pretty impressed.  :)

~ He is totally in love with his "My First Farm Book." He will get it and look at the page with the tractors on it for 5 minutes at a time or more (which is an ETERNITY in Toddler Time!).  Then he will turn to the page with the combines on it, and back to the tractor page. Adorable.  Other favorite books include "Moo, Baa, LaLaLa," which Collette "reads" (i.e., has memorized and recites) to him, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear," and "Goodnight, Moon." (Mommy actually has all of those-- and a few more-- memorized, too, and Trey and Collette both think it's hilarious when I recite the books to them while driving.)

~ He is in 24 month or 2T clothes, although he needs an adjustable waist to keep the 2T's up, and he wears a size 7 shoe.

~ He still loves his sleep.  He sleeps in late (8:00 or later, often), and is slow to wake up.  He wants to sit and snuggle and drink his milk and wake up slowly.  He and his Daddy look like mirror images of each other in the mornings, both clutching their cups and staring blearily into the distance, while Collette talks a blue streak and races all over the house. :) When it's time for nap, he will come to me and ask, "Night night? Nap?"

~ He loves playing with Collette, although he does aggravate her on purpose some times.  It is such a joy to see these two really enjoying each other's company.

~He has a serious mischievous streak and I need to work hard not to laugh at him when I have to scold or discipline him. Those twinkling eyes and dimples do me in.

Trey, it is such a joy to see the little boy you are becoming.  I can't believe in another month we will be celebrating your second birthday!!
