Pumpkin Carving Party

The weekend before Halloween, we decided we should carve our pumpkins.  I happened to run into my SIL Gwen, who said they were going to carve their pumpkins that weekend, too, so I suggested we do it together.  And then of course we had to call Taryn and invite her family, too.  And my parents.  And LL's parents.  So it came to pass that we hosted a pumpkin carving party for our families on about half an hour's notice.  We ordered pizza, carved the pumpkins, and had a great time.

Trey took over scooping duties.

I found some fun pumpkin carving templates on line, and we used those for our pumpkins.  LL and I were remarking to each other how much pumpkin carving has changed since we were little.  The biggest question we had to decide was "Square or triangle shaped eyes?" and maybe how many teeth in the smile.  Now we are all making fancy designs!

The kids had to go out and see them lit up.  It was pitch black out-- I guess my flash did a pretty good job!)

It was so fun to have all of the cousins come and make their pumpkins together!
