"I Go to Dancing School!"

Last week Thursday, Collette had a mini dance recital.  I think I mentioned we had to switch studios because her other studio (with her beloved teacher) closed.  We found a class just for 3 and 4 year olds (unlike her other class that was mostly 5-6 year olds, and she was 3), and she has loved it.  They do both ballet and tap, and she thinks it's great.  The class is offered in 6 week blocks, so you don't need to commit to an entire year (great idea for the preschool set), so at the end of 6 weeks they do a little recital and show off what they have learned.

It was so fun to watch.  Some of the kids were really into it, and some were pretty unsure about the whole thing, but it was adorable.  And of course Collette loved every single minute of it. :)

Here is their class picture.  I didn't even realize they did this picture (we aren't allowed to watch the class most of the time), but I think it turned out cute. And I couldn't help but laugh that Collette looks a little like an Amazon Woman (or at least a 6 year old) next to all of the petite girls in her class. Ha! Let's hear it for 95% height!

In our last dance studio, Collette insisted on always wearing a bun for ballet.  But she's seen the other girls in this class sport a variety of hair styles, so she's decided to branch out, too.  One girl in particular always wears french braided piggy tails, and Collette decided she wanted "Ana hair" (as in Ana from Frozen) for her recital.  Getting that mop of hair into two french braids was a challenge, but we did it!

Ready to dance!

They showed off their ballet skills first.

Doing her ballet positions:

She lacks for personality, obviously. ;)

Then they did their tap dance!

Enthusiasm.  She's got it. In spades.

Here's a little video of their dance. :)
