Easter Fun

We were able to do a couple of fun Easter activities with the kids.  First, we decided to do the breakfast buffet at a local farm market, where we have gone the past few years.  The Easter Bunny makes an appearance, and there's an egg hunt and a few activities for the kids.  But primarily, there is a large and glorious breakfast buffet.  Which is really what the Reitzes are all about. :)

We woke up the Saturday morning of the egg hunt and I looked out the window to this scene:

Lovely weather for an Easter Egg Hunt, no?

Thankfully, it didn't snow much, and it snowed even less in the town where the breakfast was, so it wasn't too bad.  But snowy and 25 degrees isn't how one traditionally thinks of Easter.

LL's parents and Andy, Taryn and the kids came with us.  Collette loved the Easter bunny.  She may have been the only kid who did. Ha!

Elliott enjoyed his first breakfast buffet, but was less than impressed with the bunny.

Like I said, I think Collette was the only kid who liked the bunny. Ha!

We also dyed Easter eggs with the cousins, and Mimi came, too.  It was a lot of fun and a little bit of chaos, as most events with the Reitzes are. 

I asked the kids to pick clothes that weren't "good" for egg dyeing.  Trey came back wearing this Arizona State football jersey, a hand me down from someone.  He was all excited about it when he looked at it and thought it was a Mississippi State jersey, but after we broke the news to him that it was Arizona, he decided he could wear it for egg dyeing. :)

Our brown farm eggs are always more muted colors than while eggs would be. 

The bigger girl cousins all got the same shirts from Gram and Pap, so they decided to wear them at the same time.  Collette is holding a duckling... more on that later.

We were laughing because the two youngest cousins were wearing almost matching outfits, too.  Elliott and Ethan, only 6 weeks apart in age. 

Grandma and Pap got more than just shirts for the kids for Easter... we all got ducklings, too! This is one of the benefits (or drawbacks, depending on your perspective!) of living on a farm.  Live animal presents are fair game.  Each family got 8 ducklings of various breeds.  The kids were so excited! I know it is hard to see the actual ducks in this picture, but you get the idea. 

The same day we got the ducks, Ll came home with a bunny! Collette and Trey couldn't believe their good fortune, getting ducks and a bunny in the same day! But, alas, (for them!) the bunny was a patient of LL's that he was just monitoring overnight. Bunny had had surgery that afternoon, so he was just a house guest.  But the kids were excited to pet him and give him treats. (Again, trust me that the grey object in the box is the bunny. We didn't want to move him much, since he had just had surgery and all.)

LL and the kids helped make a place for the ducklings in their own little shed.  When they get bigger, the kids are excited to take them to our little pond.  I'm sure they will love it!
