Let there be Light! And Trim! And Plants!

Household project continue at the Reitz's! We have had a long list of things we would like to accomplish before the baby arrives, and it is starting to look like we may actually accomplish it! We now have a chandelier in the dining room, something we have wanted for a long time. The dining room was the only room in the house without any overhead lighting, and we found a chandelier we liked at Lowes several months ago... it has been sitting in its box in the dining room floor for months now. When the contractor was here working on the nursery, he and LL figured out a way to get lighting to the dining room by cutting a hole in the study wall and in the dining room ceiling. When LL stopped me at work this week to say "just so you know, there are two holes in the dining room ceiling and a hole in the study wall" I was nervous. But then I got home, and compared to the major nursery renovation, it was nothing! He was able to finish everything this week, and here is the result:

Nice, huh? Now LL is working on repairing and painting the final wall in the study, and then we can finish that room, too. If we can do that this week(or before baby arrives) then we will have completed the kitchen, dining room, living room, study, downstairs bathroom, and nursery since moving in.... leaving just our bedroom, the two spare bedrooms, and the groovy 70's bathroom upstairs for next year's projects. :o)

In addition to the living room, the nursery is finally and officially finished! They returned to put the trim on, and this week I was able to do paint touch ups. LL had also done some of his own decorating in the nursery-- on Thursday he informed me I wasn't allowed in the nursery at all. When I was finally allowed in, here is what I saw:

LL decided that our jungle nursery wouldn't be complete without some real jungle plants! He is too cute. (And yes, we are checking on the toxicity of the plants, don't worry...) He also found the rug we had used our study in MS, and decided to try it in the nursery. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I think it actually looks cute in there now. And I do like the green chair pad with the green accents in the bedding and with the plants, so that it worked itself out, too.

Here are the windows complete with trim and curtains:

And here is the finished closet. I am sooooo excited to have a functional closet!!

I painted a 4 peg hook with the same colors we used in the nursery, and for now our diaper stacker is hanging there. I am sure that once baby actually arrives things will move around into a much more efficient and functional layout, but for now, you get the idea.

And finally.....

I am now 39+ weeks. Large and in charge! Lol. As most (maybe all) of you know, I am not a huge fan of pictures of myself, but in the interest of posterity, here I am at 39+ weeks. Hopefully this is the last pre-baby picture of me I will be posting!

At my doctor's appointment yesterday, everything looked good but not real news yet as far as labor is concerned. We had another ultrasound and baby still looks good; she is turned the right way, has a good amount of fluid, and now weighs approximately 6.5 lbs (give or take 10%). My next appointment is on my actual due date, Nov. 5th.
