Winter Get-Away (Part Two)

The rest of our weekend at Camp of the Woods was jam-packed with activities! We ran the kids (and ourselves!) ragged every day! :)

One highlight was snow-shoeing in the woods to a frozen waterfall.  We took the back-pack carrier for Trey, and orginally LL was going to carry him.

But the trail was pretty rough for little legs,
so before too long we had switched roles-- I took Trey:

And LL took Collette :)
(He earned the Good Daddy award for that, for sure!)

Our hike was actually really nice, and it was on our "warm" day, with highs in the 20s.
We really enjoyed it.

Isaac was big enough to have his own show shoes,
and Andy carried Tabby while Taryn carried Amelia.
They all had a good time, too!

A few of our beautiful scenes:

Frozen Auger Falls- beautiful!

Another outdoor highlight was ice skating! We had never taken Collette before, and she was super excited to go.  However, she quickly learned it wasn't quite as easy as she thougt it may be. I didn't even attempt to put on skates, because I'm old and uncoordinated and probably would have broken something.  Ha! Besides, somebody needed to hang out with Trey. :)  But LL put on his skates (that he owns!) and got out there with Collette.

Ready to skate!

Isaac did great! That kid has lots of natural athletic ability.
He just tries something and does it. :)

The rink didn't have any of those walker-type things to help kids balance, so after not a real long time, both Tabby and Collette decided skating was overrated.  They put their boots back on and decided sliding on the ice was much more fun.

Then Uncle Andy had the great idea to push and pull the kids around on the ice.
Even Trey thought that was pretty awesome!

Our other big outside winter activity was one I was one I had been looking forward to- a horse drawn sleigh ride! All of the activities and equippment were included in our price, but some thing had limited availability, so they were offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The sligh ride was the first thing we signed up for! :)  We went on Sunday and it was fridgid. Like, single-digits outside. So. COLD. So even though we enjoyed the ride, none of us were disappointed that it didn't last longer!! We were ready to get back in and warm up!

The beautiful horses:

Ready to ride!

After our ride we warmed up with hot chocolate. :)

We also did some fun indoor activities.  I will share those and wrap-up our weekend in the next post.
