Our Easter got off to a very early start, since we decided to attend the Sunrise service at our church. The evening before we had been to a wedding and didn't get home as early as we thought we would, so I was dubious about how a service that started at 6:30am would go-- especially since it meant leaving our house before 6:00am, dressed in our finest! Thankfully, it wasn't as painful as I thought it might be, and we were actually on time for the service. Since there wasn't any childcare for the Sunrise service, we had both kids with us, but they did well, and the service had a lot of other kids in it, too.
The super early hour meant I didn't get as many pictures of the kids in the Easter outfits as I have in the past, but I did manage to get a pretty decent one after the service and before the church breakfast.
We had breakfast and Sunday School, and then came home to have the kids nap before we had lunch with the family.
While the kids napped, LL and I worked on an Easter cake, which has also become somewhat of a tradition. This year, we opted to make a bunny cake.
Tasty and not too hard to assemble!
When the kids got up from naps, I decided we should attempt a family picture before we got to the farm. Once the kids are at the farm, there are waaaaaaaaay too many distractions and too much excitement to be able to sit still for a picture. And miraculously, we didn't get too much stain damage from breakfast, so everyone was looking pretty presentable. :) So, I set up my mini-tripod and put the camera on self-timer and told everyone to smile. This was our second attempt. What are the odds we would have four people looking and smiling? I was impressed. And just think, Lord willing we will have another little boy in our family picture next year!
We had a great lunch with both LL's family and my parents and grandpa. It is such a blessing to be able to be with family for holidays! Especially after so many years of not being near my family, we are loving being able to celebrate together!
After we got back home, we did our Easter baskets for the kids. Since they get candy from grandparents, we don't get them candy. This year they got a book, coloring book, puzzle, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, flip flops, and a kite.
They also each got one "bigger" gift. This wasn't something we had intended to do, but then I found this Hello Kitty cd player/karaoke machine/ I don't even know what all it does on clearance at Target. And by clearance, I don't mean 20-3-% off. I mean CLEARANCE!!
(In case you can't read that well, it was reduced from $129.99 down to $19.44! $110 off!)
So we bought it for her, and since the kids have Nov/Dec birthdays, we decided we would give it to her now to enjoy.
Trey's "big" gift was a T-ball set that both kids love!
We ended the night with some Frozen karaoke. :)
Collette was thrilled to see her self on the TV singing! A star is born! Ha!
