14 Months!

Whew. Month 13 just flew by! We were so busy in December with the holidays and our Mississippi trip, it just doesn't' seem possible that Collette is another month older and is now a big 14-month-old girl! :o)

So what's new with Collette at 14 months?

~She has pretty well mastered walking (although her balance is awful when she is tired-- she falls repeatedly then) and is working on running. Her newest thing: when she has something she's not supposed to have, and I ask her to bring it to me, she will speed walk/run in the opposite direction! Stinker! She is laughing the whole time, though, and gives it up when I get to her.

~She is understanding a LOT more of what we say. She is responding to simple commands, like "bring me the bear" or "put your foot down" etc.

~She is now using the sign language word for "milk" when she wants her cup. Her previous "word" for cup had been "point and scream." NOT working for Mama or anyone else around us! :o) So now we use the sign language symbol instead. She picked it up quite well, thanks in part to good role models in Tabby, Isaac, and Mary Audrey. :o)

~She continues to learn new words. Some of her new ones this month include "otter" (like the stuffed backpack she loves), "Isaac" (one of her favorite people) and "more". She is putting some words in context, too. For example, she watched a TV commercial of babies going to sleep and said "night night".

~She LOVES playing with her big cousins. She had a blast with Isaac and Tabby on our Mississippi trip. They played hide-and-seek (Isaac and Tabby would hide and Collette would find them), and she played ball in the yard with Isaac. Isaac and Tabby also started a new "game" with her in the car. They would say "Collette, say 'uh-oh'" and then Collette would say "uh-oh". Then Isaac and Tabby would laugh hysterically. And do it again. And again. And again. They always thought it was funny, and Collette was very proud of herself and thought she was too funny!

~She loves playing with baby dolls and has started scribbling on her MagnaDoodle. She also still loves Little People, and is having fun playing with her new Nativity Set she got for Christmas. She also recently got her very own Elmo Cellphone (thank you, Mary Audrey!) and she loves opening it, holding it up to her ear, and saying "hello!"

~She is such a loving little girl! She has turned into a big hugger and kisser. :o)And she continues to be Daddy's Girl!

~She still is a total people-person. She LOVES people and spends lots of time trying to get people's attention. She is still big on waving, grinning, and saying hi.

~She is still a great eater. She continues to love fruit the most, and asks for "nanas" (bananas) almost every day. She will usually eat some of whatever I get for a meal when we are eating out.

~She loves accessories! She is a big fan of purses, necklaces, bracelets, etc. I really don't know where she picked that up--maybe it really just hardwired into girls? :o)

Happy 14 months, Collette! What a joy it's been so far!
