16 Months!

Yup. It's true. The little girl just keeps on growing!!! Collette is now 16 months old! So what's new with Collette at 16 months?

~She had her 15 month check-up on Friday, and Collette is now 32 1/4 inches tall and weighs 25lbs 15oz! She has grown almost two inches since her 12 month appointment, and gained about 1 1/2 pounds. She is actually down a little on the growth chart-- in the 75-90% for both height and weight, instead of in the 95%. But look how tall she is!

Tall enough to look out the windows all on her own. :o)

~She is a climber (as I just posted) and a pro at running now.

(These are of her running tonight--she will back up all the way to the stove in the kitchen, wait until I say "ready, set, GO!" and then run all the way through the kitchen and the dining room until she gets to me and gives me a big hug. And then runs back again.)

~She also still loves getting "bup" on the couch or in "big" chairs.

~She is learning new words all the time! This month we have also been working on animal noises and identification of body parts. Collette can identify what the cow, dog, sheep, chick, and pig say (the pig is the funniest--I have to get it on video soon). Sometimes she gets the horse, and she can say "cat", but not "meow." She can point to her head, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, and belly when asked. Funny story: the other day, Collette and LL were watching Sesame Street. Well, okay, Collette was watching Sesame Street, and LL was snoozing. I found them like this:

Anyway, Elmo was talking about plants, and showing pictures of plants growing. Collette looked at the TV and pointed her finger and said "no, no!"-- because she gets scolded CONSTANTLY for getting into the dirt of our plants in the kitchen! Stinker. :o)

~She is still a great sleeper, and sleeps from about 8:00pm-8:00am, with a nap from about 1:00pm-3 or 3:30pm. She plays hard, and sometimes it's a struggle to make it through lunch before nap time! :o)

~Collette is a great eater, too. She wakes up and asks for a "nana" for breakfast each morning, and continues to love all fruits, yogurt, most veggies (peas, lima beans, green beans, corn, and potatoes are her favorites), cheese, beans, pastas, and breads. She still isn't a fan of meat. We had chili for dinner last night, and she picked out all of the kidney beans and tomatoes to eat, and left all of the ground beef! For snacks we often have goldfish crackers, animal crackers, Teddy Grahams, or fruit.

~Collette had chocolate milk for this first time this month (courtesy of LL, who brought 2 gallons of it home from a Dairy Meeting he attended) and she loooooooooved it. I think this face says it all. :o)

~She is starting to enjoy some "big girl" activities like coloring at her own table (or in the church nursery) and playing with her ball. She loves to kick it and throw it!

~She loves to accessorize--purses, necklaces, bows, glasses and shoes are some of her favorites, and if she finds a belt of LLs or the tie to my robe she will take them and wear them around her neck. :o)

Collette is such a delight. Each month is more fun than the last. Happy 16 months, sweet girl!
