Staying Cool

Well, I don't need to tell y'all it's hot.  It's hot everywhere, I think.  But here in Central PA, it's been hovering around 100 with a heat index of about 110-115, which is decidedly uncommon around here.  I am soooooooo thankful for our two window air conditioners, but of course two small window units (one downstairs in the living room and one upstairs in the bedroom) in a large-ish house doesn't keep the whole house cool, so we are still sweating sitting still inside around here! LL and I had been talking for a while about getting Collette a new pool.  She has a small splash pool that she used last year:

(and oh my goodness, can you believe my sweet girl just one year ago? *Tear*)

and she still likes that, but it needs to be hooked up to a hose and running all the time to really work, and that is a strain on our well, plus we are in a drought.  So we wanted to get her a bigger, little bit deeper pool that we could just fill up for her.  Well, we were in Target (oh, how I love you, Target!) and we found an awesome pool on clearance for $7.00! It was regularly over $30.  Score! So we came home and got right to work getting it ready for our little water bug.

We found a shady flat spot at the end of our yard, which is also just beyond the invisible fencing for the dogs, so they wouldn't get any bright ideas about munching on it.  They decided to be Water Rescue Dogs on guard instead. :)

Here it is! This baby has a slide, a palm tree sprayer, a waterfall, and a dinosaur ball toss, complete with six balls.

Collette thought it was pretty great.

Playing with the dino ball toss:

Loving the slide:

Sunbathing beauty:

Collette watched LL use the valve to turn on and off the water for the waterfall and the palm tree (once!), and about two seconds later she had crawled out of the pool and was adjusting it herself.  Stinker. Here she is looking pretty proud of herself sitting by the on/off valve. LOL.
We had so much fun we needed to take a little break for hydration. :)
I can't wait for more fun days in the pool!
