21 Months!

Yesterday, Collette turned 21 months old.  2 years is right around the corner! How is that possible? :)

Here's a little bit about what's new with Collette at 21 months:

~ She continues to be a little socialite.  She gets super excited to see her cousins in particular and will say "oh boy! oh boy!" and dance around when she sees them from a distance. :) She especially asks for Tabby and Teddy, but is always excited to see all of them.

Collette and BFF Tabby:

~ She is learning new words all the time and speaking in a lot more phrases.  She can be stubborn, though-- often times if we say "Collette, say ______," she will just look at us like she has no clue what we are saying! Stinker. :)

Loving on Bingo-- a daily occurance :)

~ She is still a great eater.  She will now ask for specific foods, and if I don't understand what she wants, she will say "Come! Hand?" and take me by the hand to the refrigerator to show me what she wants.  Usually, it's some sort of fruit, yogurt, or juice/tea (which she rarely gets!).

Loving some chocolate cake at Grandma and Pap's house:

~ She is a great sleeper, too.  She usually sleeps from around 8:30pm-7:30am, and takes a 2-3 hour nap every day.  She usually wakes up happy, talking and playing in her crib.

Sleepy girl on the couch by Daddy!

~ She still loves to watch Mickey Mouse in the morning.  After breakfast she will bring me the remote and say "Mickey Mouse?" She will usually watch it while I clean up in the kitchen.  It's a win-win. :) When I was shopping the other day, I found a Minnie Mouse swimsuit on sale for $4.  It said it was a 2T, but looked small.  When Collette saw it, she got  sooooo excited.  She took her dress right off and tried to put her new Minnie suit on.  It is definitely small for a 2T-- there is NO WAY she will be able to wear it next year--but she loves it!

~ She still plays with a variety of toys, and doesn't really have one favorite, but she loves pretending with her baby dolls and sitting at her table playing with puzzles.  She is sitting for longer periods of time to read books with me.  She loves to have me sit on the floor in the play room, and she will pick out a book and come sit in my lap to read it.  Then she will get up and pick a new book off the shelf.  She will deliberate for quite a while when choosing the book she wants next (Progress! Not always the same 3 books!) Her Toddler Bible is one of her favorites right now.

She had a few "firsts" this month:
~ Her first S'more.  It was a hit!

~She is starting to show an interest in the potty, and asked to sit on the potty for the first time yesterday.

~Her first time watching a move at the Drive In! We went on Friday night to see Winnie the Pooh and The Smurfs.  Since the Drive In doesn't start until dark (9:00ish), we weren't sure if she would stay awake for any of it or not.  Boy, were we wrong! Our little TV toad LOVED it! She was so excited when the previews started.  She'd say "yaaaay!" and then the preview ended and she would say "Oh.  All done" in a disappointed little voice.  And say it all again when the next preview came on! She loved it when the movie actually started, and sat quiet and still watching Pooh the entire time.  We thought for sure she'd fall asleep when it ended, since it was 10pm, but she stayed awake and watched the entire Smurfs movie, too! Girl was up until MIDNIGHT! And happy as a clam. As soon as we pulled out of the Drive In, she fell right asleep. :)

At the Drive In, waiting for the movie to start!

~Her first time eating corn on the cob.  Our sweet corn is ready, and we spent the first of many days yesterday shucking, cooking, cutting, and freezing corn. She loved it!

LL and I laugh every day at the funny things she says and does.  She is such a joy to us! We can't wait to see what this next month will bring!
