Wednesday Randomness :)

I don't really have any sort of cohesive blog post for today, but I thought I'd share a few of the random things that have been going on around here. :)

First up: RIP, cell phone: Yesterday morning, I hastened the death of my cell phone by dropping it in my mug of coffee.  I don't really know how that happened, I seriously feel like it flew right out of my hand an into the the coffee.  And, it's dead, Jim.  (Is it weird to throw in a quote from a TV series that went off the air before I was born and I didn't even like in re-runs? A big shout out to my Original-Star-Trek-loving-family-member(s), who shall remain nameless for the sake of their safety.)

The scene of the horrific accident:

Anyway, I may have a small texting addiction  proclivity, and I may be starting to twitch just slightly from withdrawals. What can I say?  I have many fabulous friends who live far away from me (and yes, Harrisburg counts as far away!) and I need to be connected! I'm a stay at home mom, people!!  Anyway, I ordered a new phone yesterday, so hopefully it will arrive soon.  I would love to tell you I got a new fancy smartphone like the iphone or something equally impressive, but I didn't.  Maybe at some point we will upgrade our phone plan, but currently I don't have a data plan on my cell phone, and we don't really want the extra $30-45 a month for that, plus the cost of the phone.  So I sprung for a $30 refurbished phone online instead.  I know, I'm a wildwoman. :) But it does have a QWERTY keyboard! See, I'm fancy!

I'm not sure if I mentioned that my little sweat pea has been sick for the better part of the last two weeks.  She is almost all better now, but she caught an awful stomach bug (for lack of a better description) that the doctor things is giardia.  Yup, as in the parasite. He's pretty sure she got it from playing here:

At the lake. :(  We are still waiting for the lab confirmation (A WEEK LATER!) but she is pretty much back to her old self now.  Our family finds it ironic that mostly likely Collette picked up a parasite, since her Daddy has a propensity toward that as well-- he picked up one nasty tape worm during his travels to India.  It's a great story, but I'll spare y'all for today. :)

When I originally called to make Collette a doctor's appointment, they recommended doing a 24-hour liquid diet first.  So Collette had a day of jello, Popsicles, and broth (not a big hit, by the way).  She wholeheartedly enjoyed her jello, even if it didn't fix anything.

Who needs a spoon?

And I tried to make the broth more appetizing by putting it in a fun cup, but it didn't really help.

If the giardia test comes back positive (they PROMISED me results today) she may still need to be on medication to kill the actual parasite, so it doesn't reoccur at a later date.  But I'm happy to have my  happy little girl back!

Monday was my birthday, and one of my favorite places on the planet, Rita's Italian Ice, sent me a coupon for a free ice.  LL was on call, so my SIL Taryn, Isaac, and Tabby and I all went to enjoy a sweet treat.  Collette was literally shrieking with joy to see them, since we have been on lock-down with her illness.  I got a fabulous chocolate chocolate-chip ice and coffee custard gelati.  TO.DIE.FOR.GOOD.  Here is a pic of the kiddos (taken with my cell phone on the last day of it's existence).

Collette is still loving playing with her Little People barn and animals.  She carries her little farm animals all over the house.  The other day she found an unconventional purse to carry them all in:

Yup, that would be one of LL's Crocs that he wears for surgery, etc.  Nice!

***************
School starts tomorrow! I'm again teaching Family Resource Management again for my alma mater, Messiah College.  I'm excited to get back to teaching, and so thankful that the Chair of the Department let me keep the same day and time of the class, so LL can watch Collette while I'm teaching. I'll let you know how it goes!

That's about it for my Wednesday Randomness.  Hope you are all having a great week! :)
