Happy Birthday, Trey!

And just like that, in the blink of an eye, a year is gone.  Trey turned one today! I remember so clearly waking up in the early hours of December 9 last year, not quite believing I was in labor, not quite believing I was asking my in-laws to come watch Collette, not quite believing we were on the way to the hospital.  LL and I saying to each other repeatedly in the car "It's probably nothing.  We'll probably be home in a couple hours. Surely he isn't coming today." And then within the hour, learning that we would, in fact, become a family of four that day. :)

In just one short year?

 

 

So what's new with Trey at 12 months?

 

~ He continues to have a sweet, happy disposition.  Everywhere we go, people comment on how happy and content he is.  He is a good traveler and a good shopper, and even when he's tired he has a pretty good attitude. :)

 

~ He is a speed-crawler but hasn't taken any steps yet. He loves cruising around the furniture and walls, and he likes walking with push toys.  I wouldn't be surprised if he is walking in a few weeks.

 

~ He is a great eater.  I haven't found any foods he doesn't like, and he has quite the appetite these days! It's not unusual for him to eat more than Collette at meals right now. :)  He has started drinking whole milk from the farm, and we are in the process of transitioning him to sippy cups and getting rid of bottles. 

 

                                  

 

~ He still takes 2 naps a day, usually around 10am and 2pm.  If we are out and about and not home for his nap,  he does ok with one longer nap, so we may be hitting that transition soon, too.

 

 

~ He likes to wave, play "so big" and "peek a boo."  He chatters all the time, but isn't saying a lot of words yet.  He has started saying "dog," and "moo" (after he went to the barn to help Grandma feed calves!) and he says "uh!" when we say "uh oh," but hasn't gotten the "oh" party yet. :) 

 

~ He loves Collette more than anything and thinks she is so funny.  He has started to "get" her when she is lying on the floor-- he will crawl over and attack her belly, giggling and chortling. (I have a video, I'll upload it soon!)

 

 

~ His favorite toys right now are anything he can drum or bang together. :) And, of course, anything he shouldn't have, like cords, wires, or the dog dishes/food. He also loves taking anything that Collette is playing with- stinker!

 

~ He is getting so big! I have taken most of his 12 month clothes out of his drawers, and his 18 month clothes fit him well! He's in a size 3/4 shoe and a size 4 diaper.  In a few weeks he goes for his check up, so we will have a height/weight on him then.

Edited to add: Trey had his 12 month check up! He was 30 1/4 inches tall and weighed 23.7 lbs.  That puts him in the 75% for height and the 60% for weight, and pretty close to his sister's one year stats-- she was 30 1/2 inches and 24 pounds even.

 

Since we had his birthday party a few weeks ago, we had a small family celebration today. We started with a special breakfast treat (Chocolate mini donut!) and singing "Happy Birthday" to him. He seemed to enjoy the experience. :)
