Father's Day Weekend

We had another busy weekend! Friday night we made homemade strawberry ice cream with our fresh strawberries. We used the recipe from one of our favorite cookbooks, Sweet Tea and Screen Doors. Let me tell you what, this is a FABULOUS recipe, made with what LL calls "the good stuff"-- i.e. nothing low-fat or diet about it! Can we say FOUR CUPS of heavy whipping cream? LOL Anyway, it was sooooooooo good and we had some friends over to enjoy it. Sorry, no pictures.... I was too busy stuffing my face!

Saturday we had a picnic with my former co-workers from my former job as a therapist at the Keystone Center. Sadly, the Keystone Center is no more, but it was such a positive working environment and we all enjoyed each other's company so much we keep getting together several times a year, several years later! We had a great time reconnecting with every one, and I even got a fun picture--

I asked my former coworker Colette if she knew any one else with the same name, and she said, "nope, she's it!" So I figured I needed a picture of them together.

And, of course, yesterday was Father's Day. LL's first Father's Day, to be exact. We had such a nice day. We were able to go to church together because LL wasn't on call, which is always a treat. Collette wore a dress and matching hair bow that her Daddy picked out for her, and LL wore a shirt that Collette "helped" pick out for him as part of his Father's Day present. Aren't they just precious?


Collette is one lucky little girl to have such a great daddy!

After church, we had lunch with LL's family. Tabby and Collette are still best buds. The second we got to the house, Tabby said "I hold Baby Collette!" So she did:

After lunch, we did something "manly"-- we went to Cabela's! We had actually never been there before, and Andy and Taryn and the kids were going there to meet someone buying one of their Newf puppies, (Cabela's is about half way between our house and Philly) and invited us to go along. We actually had a great time, and there was tons to look at. We even bought a few things for our fire pit--roasting sticks and a double Mountain Pie maker. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I see good food in our future. :o) Tabby and Isaac enjoyed the camo child-sized couches:

After Cabela's, we went ate dinner at a fun 50's Diner on the way home. It was so good, and several of the staff even commented on how "well behaved" and "beautiful" all of the kids were--high praise for a 3.5 yr old, almost 2 yr old, and 7 month old after a loooooong day!
