My child. My sweet little girl. She has been making me just shake my head lately. Why? Collette has developed a love of snakes. Yes, you read that right. A love of snakes. Except that she has trouble with "S" consonant-blend words, so she calls snakes "nakes." (she also says Trey has "pit up" instead of "spit up," asks to "tir" food instead of "stir" it, tells me she needs a "poon" at dinner instead of a spoon.... most words with "s" and then a consonant she just drops the "s" off entirely). Anyway, Collette loves nakes. For the past several weeks, she has been pretending to have a baby nake. She will walk around holding her hand out and pretending to pet her invisible nake, she will put her nake down on the floor and then attempt to put her going-potty prize candy on the floor for her nake to eat, and frequently pretends her food is a nake (spaghetti, thinly chopped carrots, etc.). Every day when LL comes home from work, she asks, "You see any nakes, Daddy?" (He did see a snake recently, and told her about it. She was soooo excited!) I'm not entirely sure where she got her love of snakes from. She did see one in our house last year when a small snake slithered in our kitchen and nearly gave me a heart attack, but other than that, I can't figure it out. It just cracks me up to see her running around in tutus with painted fingernails, talking about her pet baby nake. What a girl. :)
The other day she found a pom-pom string that had come off her pom-pom, and decided that was her new baby nake. I got her on video talking about it:
The nake conversation went on for several more mintues, and ended with her putting her nake in Trey's swing. And then twirling in her tutu. :) That's my girl. :)
