We had a great Easter! We started by having Collette and Trey open their Easter baskets.
I had gotten them each a bathing suit, books, and a couple small toys. Trey got two teethers and Collette got a small Minne Mouse with a snap-on outfit and a Pizza Party toy. (And yes, my sweet husband got me an Easter basket, too, with chocolate and tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil!)
She was so excited! She took her Nemo book along in the car on the way to church. :)
Daddy and Trey with his Easter Basket:
We went to Sunday School and church, but we opted to not go for the sunrise service because it's outside and still COLD-- we didn't want Trey to be out that long in the cold and wind. I decided we should take a picture with the camera on timer before we left, just in case we didn't get another chance for a family picture (the last time we had one was Christmas!).
Not too shabby for a quick picture before we headed out the door. :)
I had such a hard time finding a dressy Easter outfit for Trey! I looked at all the department stores in the mall, Gymboree, at Target, and at Kohl's, and they all only had dressy outfits in sizes 12 months and up. I couldn't find anything remotely dressy! I was getting discouraged and had just decided to give up when I had to run into Walmart for something. I almost never shop there (why to go Walmart when you can go to Target?) but I decided to swing by the baby department and, lo and behold, a dressy outfit in 3-6 month size! It was the only one there and I grabbed it up :) I just loved his little dress shirt (with real buttons and everything--I had to unto the cuff buttons to get his cute chubby little fists in) and real dress pants, and his little argyle sweater vest. I know I'm biased, but could he be any cuter?
I found Collette's dress at my favorite store of all time, Gabriel Brothers. I knew she would love the poufy "Tinker" skirt.
I think they both looked adorable in their blue and white!
After church we headed to the farm to celebrate with LL's family. We were in charge of dessert, and made this peeps cake:
We found the recipe in the Food Network Magazine, and LL immediately said we had to make it. I wasn't sure I could get it done with everything else we had going on, but he was encouraging and we decided to try. I think it turned out cute. It had a yummy marshmallow-y icing that sculpted into the chick shape nicely.
Collette was too busy running and playing with cousins to sit for any pictures, but Trey made the rounds. :)

After lunch, the kids did an egg hunt. It was the first time Collette really understood what the egg hung was about (last year she found one egg, sat down to open it, ate the chocolate, and played with the egg!). It was sunny and had warmed up some by the afternoon, so that made it a lot nicer for the kids to look for the eggs.

Trey may not have been able to hunt for eggs, but Gram and Pap made sure he got his share of candy, too. Don't you just love that face? I think he's saying, "Whoa! That's a lot of candy! I haven't even started rice cereal yet!" :)
We were even able to get a few cute family pictures!
