So what's new with Collette this month?
~She is busy, busy, busy. LL read a statistic that said the average toddler takes 176 steps a minute-- and I'm pretty sure she's right on target for that! Ha! She is learning to run and is into EVERYTHING!
~She is learning new words all the time. She has now learned to say "bup" for "up", so we don't just say "down" for everything any more. It took a little work, though. At first she thought I was correcting her for using "down," and stated using "bup" for everything, up and down! LOL. I think we have it figured out now! Another new phrase she has started using is "go dogs!"-- complete with the fist-pump! She has the stuffed Bully that plays the MSU fight song, and we would always say "go dogs!" at the end of the song. Now she does, too, and has started just saying it at random times. I'll have to get it on video. PRECIOUS! A few other new words include "run", "fish" (like goldfish crackers), "marshall" (her stuffed Newfie toy who came with that name), "cheese" (a favorite food). She is also saying "yeah" and "no" more to answer questions we ask her.
~She is getting TALL! We go to the doctor soon for her official stats, but to people who see her regularly, they have commented that she's being to "stretch out"-- she's getting taller and not quite as chunky. :o) Don't worry, though, she's still got some chub. Ha! She is pretty solidly in 12-18 month clothes, size 4 diapers, and size 4 shoes-- although the ONLY shoes she will keep on and not pull off in about 0.5 seconds are the soft-bottom leather shoes like Robeez or MiniStars. She is wearing some bigger sizes, particularly in dresses and jumpers. (The jumper she wore to church today was a 2T, but barely covered her diaper cover!) In this picture you can see how tall she is compared to our kitchen counters-- that reach is getting longer every day!
~She is still super affectionate. She loves to give hugs and kisses, and doesn't have any stranger anxiety yet. To Collette, everyone is just a potential friend! She still hams it up whenever we are out in public.
~She has just started really liking this table and chairs that Gram and Pap got her last Christmas. She is now tall enough to get on and off (or should I say "bup" and "down"?) the chair pretty well by herself, so she really likes going to sit at her table to play with her puzzle, magnadoodle, or tea set. Such a big girl!
~As usual, she is still a great eater, although she and Bingo are very conspiratorial and she loves feeding Bingo anything she decides she doesn't want. She's not a big meat eater, so that works out well for Bingo!! We recently gave her jello; I don't remember her having it much before. She LOVED it and kept saying "more" every time she got almost done with what was on her tray! She is also working on eating with a spoon. Miss Independent does NOT want anyone to feed her. However, I can put things on her spoon (like yogurt) and hand her the spoon, and she she will put it in her mouth herself. This morning she was eating yogurt, and every time I would hand her the spoon with yogurt on it, she would stop and very carefully place one cheerio on the spoon, too, before she would eat it. Funny girl!
~People still comment on all that hair and those rosy rosy cheeks. If she has been really active or is tired, those cheeks are extra rosy. Last night her four-year-old cousin Isaac commented "her cheeks are almost as red as her shirt!"
~She loves music. Her favorite song right now is "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" and she gets all excited when her musical puppy plays that song. She gets her head right every time, but it's a little haphazard after that. She also loves to play her cat keyboard, and recorder, and goes around the house blowing it. She's also quite the dancer now. :o)
~Although we try not to make TV an every-day thing, Collette loves Sid the Science Kid, Mickey Mouse, and Sesame Street.
