Bathroom Update #1

We are making lots of progress in the bathroom! Well, okay, we are making lots of progress in deconstructing the bathroom. Here's what we have done so far:

LL spent the majority of Saturday doing bathroom demo. Here's the good doctor hard at work!

Adios, fake rock wall!!!!!

Saturday night, LL's brother Andy came to help with more demo.

The two of them were able to get a lot done. The bathroom had horsehair plaster walls and ceiling, too, so it was a LOT of stuff to get out of one small room! They took at least three full truckloads of debris out of that small room!

They also found this super-duper wasp nest. It was HUGE! Oh, the things living in the walls of old houses....

They were able to remove the vanity (from 1973. It actually had the date on it). For some reason, the vanity didn't make it on the truck with the rest of the debris. So it's still sitting on our front porch.

But we're not rednecks or anything.

Just because we have a 1973 vanity on our front porch.

Yesterday our contractor and his helper came, and they started the real work! They took out the floor (linoleum over hardwood--which we did save in case we need it for patch-ups on our other floors. However, hardwood in the bathroom isn't the best idea.)

In order to remove the floors, they had to remove our toilet, which is the only new thing from the bathroom, and we are keeping it. So they needed a spot for it.

Doesn't everyone have a toilet in their spare bedroom? I think it's a great look.

Last night, LL, Collette, and I went to Lowes for supplies. We got our tub, Pex piping, insulation (there was none), plywood for the floor, and some other things that I had no idea went in a bathroom. :o) We were all ready for more work today, but the bad weather and poor roads kept them from coming today. Hopefully they can back to work tomorrow!

Is anyone missing pictures of the little cutie? Here she is sporting some lovely accessories and helping Daddy by moving a paint can. :o)

She thought the scale we moved out of the bathroom was pretty great, too. According to it, she weighs 25 pounds. :o) May she never dread stepping on the scale!!!!!

Of course, she is already developing healthy exercise habits, so that's a good sign.
