Animal Biscuits and Snow

On Friday, the weather reports started calling for snow.  And not just snow, a "winter storm warning," with 4-8 inches of snow expected. We were a little skeptical, because often when these storms are predicted, we end up with little more than a dusting of snow.  So on Saturday morning, I got up and looked outside.  Sure enough, it was snowing, but just barely:

I thought for sure the storm would miss us again.  Just to be safe, LL and I decided it would be a good day to be lazy at home, and not go anywhere.  After looking through our new Southern Living magazine (yes, we still subscribe to Southern Living! Who cares if we live in PA now?) we decided to make their Angel Biscuit recipe for breakfast.  Collette thought it was a great idea, too, and was very eager to help Mommy and Daddy make biscuits.  :)

And then the best part-- rolling out the dough and making the biscuits! We decided to use Collette's animal cookie cutters for our biscuits.  She requested a duck, bunny, hippo, elephant, and horse. :)

The cookie cutters also make attractive bracelets!

Collette was a particular fan of the Nutella and banana combo. :)

(The duck biscuit is on the side of her plate because she was pretending to make the duck eat, too. Ha!)

All through breakfast, it kept snowing.  And snowing....and snowing.  And then the power went out.  I figured it would be back on in a few minutes, but no such luck.  By early afternoon, this was the scene out our windows:

By late afternoon, the temperature in our house was dropping, it was starting to get dark, and we still had no power, no phone, and spotty cell signal.  So we loaded up and went down to the farm.  LL's parents have a generator, so they had heat and light. :)  We spent the evening hanging out with LL's two brothers and their families, plus his parents and his grandmas, and watching the Bulldogs beat Kentucky.  :) Collette had an absolute blast playing with all of her cousins.  The power came back on around 9:30pm, and we were able to go home and sleep in our own warm beds.
